The Stade de France is France’s national stadium, in Saint-Denis just north of Paris, and one of the closest major venues to Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG). It has been the national stadium since 1998 and hosts football and rugby internationals, major concerts and athletics, and it was a main venue for the 2024 Olympic Games. Event days put heavy pressure on roads and trains, so planning the transfer matters. This guide covers a private transfer and the RER.

Private transfer from CDG to the Stade de France

A private transfer takes you to the stadium area or your hotel nearby, without the crowded RER platforms. On event days, traffic near the stadium is closed or slow, so tell us your event time and ticket gate when you book, and we will plan the drop-off point and a realistic pick-up for afterwards. The fare covers the whole vehicle.

Meeting your driver at Charles de Gaulle

Charles de Gaulle has three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 (split into halls 2A to 2G) and Terminal 3. A free automatic shuttle, the CDGVAL, links the terminals and the train stations, so tell us your airline and terminal if you know them. After you collect your luggage and walk out of the arrivals hall, your driver will be waiting with a sign showing your name. If you cannot spot them for any reason, call or message us straight away on WhatsApp or +33 6 67 33 32 67 and we will guide you to the right door.

Because we track your flight number, a late landing does not mean a missed driver. If your plans change a lot, such as a cancelled flight or a different airport, let us know as early as you can.

By train: RER B and RER D

The RER B stops at La Plaine–Stade de France, which guides describe as roughly an eight-minute walk from the stadium. The RER D serves Stade de France–Saint-Denis, a longer walk of about fourteen minutes. Métro line 13 reaches Saint-Denis–Porte de Paris, and that line forks, so check that the train is heading towards Saint-Denis. From central Paris the RER takes around 10 to 15 minutes. On event days the operator adds extra trains, but trains and platforms are very crowded afterwards, and guides warn of queues of 20 to 30 minutes at the station, so many fans leave early or wait.

Match-day and concert tips

  • Arrive early: security checks and queues can be long, so plan to arrive well before kick-off or the first act.
  • Know your gate: the stadium’s official site lists gates and rules for each event.
  • Plan the return: trains and roads are crowded afterwards. A pre-booked pick-up from an agreed meeting point saves waiting in the crowd. Ask us for a spot a few streets away from the stadium so the driver is not stuck in the closed zone.
  • Light bags: large luggage may not be allowed inside the stadium, so drop your bags at your hotel first.

The stadium in numbers

Capacity is listed at more than 80,000 seats in a football or rugby setup, with slightly different figures between sources. The stadium has hosted the 2007 Rugby World Cup and many France internationals, and it is home to both the national football and rugby teams. If you are attending a special event, check the official event page for the latest layout and rules.

Staying in Saint-Denis

Hotels around the stadium are handy for an early or late event and are close to CDG, which suits a very early flight. For central Paris, a few stops on the RER or Métro take you to the Gare du Nord. See our guides from the Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est to the stadium.

Night arrivals and the return journey

  • Night-time surcharge: a surcharge applies to transfers between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am. It is always stated and confirmed in your booking, so there is no surprise on the day.
  • Going back to the airport: for a flight, we recommend being collected at least 3 hours before departure. For a train, allow 2 hours. If you tell us your flight time, we will work out the pick-up with you.
  • Delays: we monitor your flight or train number, so a delay moves your pick-up and does not cancel it.

Why book a fixed fare

After a flight, a known price and a driver waiting with your name is worth a lot. Piyo Cab has been running transfers around Paris since 2008 and is approved by Transport in France. Use the fare calculator for your exact group size, or message us on WhatsApp with your flight number and we will confirm the fare.
