Explorers Hotel is a popular family hotel in Magny-le-Hongre, close to Disneyland Paris, with an adventure theme and a pool area that children love. If you are flying into Charles de Gaulle (CDG), the hotel is on the same side of the Paris region as the airport, but the journey is not as simple as getting to Chessy station, because the hotel is a short drive beyond it. This guide compares the ways to get there. For the hotel itself, see our Explorers Hotel guide.

About Explorers Hotel

Explorers Hotel is built around an adventure theme, with expedition-style decor, and it is a large family-focused hotel with around 390 rooms according to booking listings. It is popular with larger families because it can put up to 10 people together using adjoining rooms, and because children have plenty to do without leaving the hotel.

Rooms

Booking sites list the standard rooms as sleeping two, four or six, and the hotel advertises combinations for up to 10 people. That makes it easier to keep a grandparent, a couple and several children close together without booking a separate villa. As the hotel is large, it is worth asking for a room near the lifts or the main building if you have a pushchair or a very small child.

Play, pool and activities

  • Indoor aquatic area: a heated indoor pool with slides and a children’s water-play area, which the hotel calls its Aquapark.
  • An outdoor pirate-ship playground, according to booking listings.
  • Indoor adventure play area over two floors with a jungle theme, a ball pool, a games room and a small children’s gym, according to booking listings.
  • Video games room for older children and teenagers.

Eating and drinking

The hotel has three restaurants and two snack bars, with a mix of buffet, à la carte and pizza according to listings, plus Galion’s Pub, a bar at the heart of the hotel. For a family that does not want to hunt for dinner after a long journey, having several places to eat on site is a real advantage on arrival night.

Practical points

  • Reception: open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so a late landing is no problem for check-in.
  • Check-in and check-out: listings give 15:00 and 11:00. Paid luggage storage is available if you arrive early.
  • Parking: free for bookings made through the hotel’s own website.
  • Park tickets: sold at reception.
  • Shuttle: a free shuttle takes less than 10 minutes to the parks. Several sources give about every 20 minutes, with a longer gap at quiet times, from around 8:00 until two hours after the parks close, so confirm the current timetable with the hotel.

Who it suits

Explorers suits families with children who need entertaining, large groups that need adjoining rooms, and anyone who wants plenty of food options on site. It is a big, busy hotel, so quiet seekers should ask about room location. For the hotel itself in more detail, see our Explorers Hotel guide.

Facilities, opening times and room types change with the season. These details come from the hotel’s website and booking listings, so confirm anything that matters to you when you book.

Private transfer: the simplest way

With a pre-booked transfer you walk out of arrivals and your driver takes you directly to the hotel’s entrance. There is no Chessy station to find, no hotel shuttle to wait for and no luggage to carry on and off trains. For a family with children and a pushchair this saves most of the stress of arrival day.

PassengersFixed fare for the whole vehicleAbout per person
1–3€70€23–70
4€80€20
5€85€17
6€90€15
7€95€13.60
8€100€12.50

The price covers the vehicle, not each seat, and it does not change with traffic. Groups of nine or more are priced on a larger vehicle, so use the fare calculator for those.

What is included

  • Fixed fare, no meter: the price you see when you book is the price you pay.
  • Flight tracking: give us your flight number and we watch it, so a delay does not cost you extra and your driver is there when you land.
  • Child seats: one baby seat and one booster seat are free of charge. Tell us the ages when you book.
  • Payment at the end: pay the driver when you arrive. Booking is free, and you can cancel or change up to 24 hours before.

By train and shuttle

If you prefer the train, there are two routes to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy. The direct TGV from the Terminal 2 station takes about 10 to 12 minutes but runs only every 20 to 60 minutes, and tickets are tied to a specific train. The RER B and RER A route through Paris is cheaper but takes more than an hour and needs a change at Châtelet–Les Halles.

From Chessy you still need to reach the hotel, which is a short drive away. Check the hotel’s own shuttle times, as shuttles to partner hotels often stop earlier in the evening and start later in the morning than the Disney Resort buses.

What families like about Explorers Hotel

  • Adventure setting with themed decor that children enjoy from the moment they arrive.
  • A pool area that helps tired children unwind after the flight.
  • Free shuttle to the parks, around 10 minutes each way, so you can leave the car or taxi behind once you are settled.
  • Quiet location in Magny-le-Hongre, with the Val d’Europe shopping centre a short drive away.

Travelling with young children

Most families who book Explorers Hotel are travelling with children, and the transfer is the first test of the trip. A few small decisions help.

  • Seats: request the baby seat or booster in advance, with the children’s ages, so the right one is fitted before you arrive.
  • Timing: if your flight lands near nap time, a direct drive of around 30 to 40 minutes is easier than a train, a change and a shuttle.
  • Luggage: pushchairs and cases fit in the vehicle together, which they often do not on a crowded RER carriage.
  • Snacks and water: pack them in your hand luggage, as there is nowhere to buy them between the airport and the hotel.

Cost for a family

For a family of four, the Piyo Cab transfer costs €80 in total, or €20 each, and it takes you all the way to the hotel door. A train ticket only gets you to Chessy station, and you still need a taxi or shuttle for the last leg, so compare the whole journey and not just the ticket. For five or more, the per-person cost falls further: €85 for five, €90 for six, €95 for seven and €100 for eight.

Getting back to CDG

Book the return when you book the arrival. For a morning flight you will leave before most hotel shuttles are running, and a driver waiting at the entrance means you can check out without checking train times. We can adjust the time up to 24 hours before if your flight changes.

Arrival-day tips

  • Check the hotel’s check-in time. If you land early, you can usually leave luggage at reception.
  • Give your driver the hotel name exactly as it appears on your booking, since several hotels on the same road have similar names.
  • If you are choosing between nearby hotels, compare our guides to Dream Castle Hotel and Grand Magic Hotel.
  • Planning the whole trip? Our CDG to Disneyland Paris guide compares every option.
